The phenomenon of forest fires has ceased to be a natural disturbance that shapes the landscape and has become a terrible threat, caused by humans in more than 95% of cases. According to data from the Fire Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Environment (MAGRAMA), the total area burned in 2012 was 209,855.21 hectares, the worst year of the decade and one of the worst in the last 20 years. Added to this loss of natural resources is the worst figure: fatalities. From 1980 to 2010, 245 people died in Spain, according to the statistical databases used, of which 187 were members of the firefighting service.
The main application of the ISK Fire Survival Kit and the objective of its invention were the self-protection of firefighters and trucks in the event of entrapment in forest fires.

It is specifically designed to provide SAFETY, PROTECTION, EXTINGUISHING, and SELF-PROTECTION for people and property threatened by fire in entrapment situations. Its features and use allow it to be considered collective protection equipment in the firefighting sector. Its water screen and extinguishing agent create a protective shield over the survival zone. It is suitable for firefighting vehicles and work teams attached to the firefighting vehicle.
ISK FIRE SURVIVAL aims to create opportunities in extreme situations where firefighters’ lives may be at risk. To this end, it provides firefighting professionals with the material and technical resources necessary to establish a survival zone in entrapment situations, with safety and protection parameters tested under specific environmental conditions. In addition, it establishes a safety procedure that contributes to increasing the probability of survival for firefighters in situations of extreme risk due to entrapment in forest, agricultural, and interface fires.
