Safety in forest fires
Safety in forest fires is an absolute priority for firefighting teams, where planning, training, and technology become the main lines of defense. In this context, ISK Fire Survival has developed solutions that significantly increase the chances of survival in extreme entrapment situations.
Prevention and planning: The keys to safety in forest fires
Before facing the fire, crews must assess the terrain, available fuel, and weather conditions. Proper planning allows them to define escape routes, safety zones, and secure anchor points. Prevention not only reduces risks but also improves team response capacity.
ISK emphasizes the importance of creating “survival zones”—spaces where personnel can take shelter in case of unexpected changes in fire behavior. This concept, essential to self-protection strategies, guides the design of its Integral Safety Kit, a comprehensive protection system for wildland firefighters.
Technology in the service of life: The ISK system
The Integral Safety Kit (ISK) combines certified elements that work together during a forest fire:
- FS1 – Integral Safety and Self-Protection Nozzle: creates a protective water curtain against radiant and convective heat, capable of resisting flame fronts up to 40 MW.
 - FS2 – Collective Fire Shelter: designed to protect 4 or 6 firefighters inside an insulated, pressurized structure made from materials resistant to temperatures up to 1290 °C.
 - FS4 and FS4.1 – Fireproof Skirts: protect the lower and lateral parts of the vehicle, including tires, from radiant and convective heat.
 - FS5 – Fireproof Curtains: provide thermal insulation inside the cabin, maintaining a safe environment in case of entrapment.

Each component has been designed in compliance with UNE EN ISO 11612 and EN 469/A1 standards and certified by ENAC-accredited bodies, ensuring reliability in real operational conditions.
Training and the culture of self-protection
Technology is only effective when properly used. For this reason, ISK promotes continuous training in self-protection techniques and the coordinated use of its devices. Training sessions include fire simulations, shelter deployment, and emergency protocol application.
In addition, the company promotes preventive awareness through educational content, demonstrations, and testimonials from crews that have successfully used the kit, strengthening the safety culture among forest firefighting teams.
ISK Fire Survival: When everything fails, ISK stands
Safety in forest fires depends not only on courage or experience but also on innovation. ISK Fire Survival has proven that technology can make the difference between a successful rescue and a tragedy. Its self-protection solutions don’t replace strategy, but they exponentially increase the chance of coming home alive.
