Fireshelter

The term Fireshelter has become a crucial component in the self-protection equipment used by wildland firefighters and emergency teams operating in extreme conditions. A fireshelter is a specially designed refuge that provides temporary protection when escape routes are no longer viable. At ISK Fire Survival, this concept takes on a new level of innovation thanks to our certified solutions developed to increase survival during fire entrapment scenarios.

What exactly is a Fireshelter?

A fireshelter is a heat-resistant, thermally protective structure made with advanced materials that help create a survivable micro-environment for critical minutes. Although it is considered a last-resort tool, its effectiveness can be decisive during fast-moving wildfires and sudden fire behavior changes.

ISK Fire Survival and the evolution of the Fireshelter

At ISK Fire Survival, we have redefined the traditional understanding of a Fireshelter by integrating it into a complete, certified self-protection system designed for real operational conditions.

FS2 – The collective Fireshelter

FS2 is our certified collective fireshelter, designed to protect multiple crew members during extreme entrapment situations. Its fire-resistant construction and ability to maintain a safer internal environment make it a core component of the ISK Survival Kit.

FS6 – The individual Fireshelter

FS6 acts as an advanced individual fireshelter. Built with highly resistant thermal materials, it provides immediate personal protection when sudden fire behavior makes withdrawal impossible. Lightweight, fast to deploy, and engineered for critical moments, FS6 is a life-saving last-resort tool.

A fireshelter within an integrated system

Unlike traditional fireshelters that function as isolated tools, ISK Fire Survival incorporates fireshelters into a broader and more effective protection system: the ISK Survival Kit, composed of FS1, FS2, and FS4.

FS1 – Active thermal protection

FS1 generates a continuous water curtain that significantly reduces thermal radiation, helping crews reach the fireshelter in better condition or gain crucial additional time during an entrapment.

Extra equipment that enhances fireshelter performance

Beyond the core kit, ISK also offers complementary protective products such as Fire Barrier Curtains, Cover Blanket, Thermal Tire Protection, and the Car Fire Blanket (FS7), all designed to expand safety in complex operational environments.
