Death toll since 1980

Desde 1980 hasta 2010, han fallecido en España 245 personas, en relación a las bases estadísticas utilizadas, de las cuales 187 pertenecían al servicio de extinción de incendios.

According to the following table, which shows these figures, entrapment or cornering is the most common cause of death among civilians or non-working-class victims. It is noted that, according to statistics, the cause of death is unknown in more than 50% of these victims.

Regarding firefighting service fatalities, cornering or entrapment accounts for 50.8% of the total, aircraft accidents 25.1%, ground accidents 17.6%, and physical causes 6.4%.

Between 1980 and 2010, a total of 126 firefighters died in firefighting operations, 88 of whom died due to being cornered or trapped in the fire.
Over the past 33 years, the number of deaths has increased to 276, an average of 8-9 deaths per year.
