Collective fireproof shelter: Team protection and survival
In the most extreme wildfires, a team’s survival depends on seconds. The FS2 Collective fireproof Shelter by ISK Fire Survival is designed for those critical moments, providing a temporary safe zone against radiant heat, convection, and oxygen depletion.
Collective fireproof shelter: Design and certified resistance
The FS2 shelter meets the highest European safety standards. Its multi-layer flame-resistant fabric, certified under UNE EN ISO 11612 and EN 469/A1, ensures resistance to temperatures exceeding 1,200 °C.
Each of its four layers performs a vital role:
- The outer layers reflect radiant heat.
- The inner layers provide thermal insulation and help maintain a stable interior temperature.
The shelter is available in FS2.4 (for 4 people) and FS2.6 (for 6 people) versions, with an approximate inflation time of 15 seconds, making it a quick and effective solution in entrapment situations.
Structural system and respiratory autonomy
The Pneumatic structural system (SEN2) maintains shelter stability even under thermal stress. In addition, the Breathable Air supply system (SSAR4) delivers oxygen through a 200-bar bottle and a dual-stage regulator, providing 12 to 15 minutes of breathable air depending on the model’s capacity.
The shelter includes individual oxygen masks with reservoirs, a breathable air distribution system, and a fire-resistant external viewing screen with a gold-coated layer (EN 171 4-4 certified), allowing visual contact with the exterior without compromising protection.
ISK technology and safety
ISK Fire Survival integrates optional satellite geolocation and oxygen level detection systems into the FS2, enhancing emergency response capabilities. Combined with an independent interior lighting system, these features ensure the crew remains operational even in total darkness or heavy smoke conditions.
Each FS2 shelter undergoes laboratory testing accredited by ENAC, ensuring real-world performance in fire conditions with power outputs up to 80 MW and flame fronts over 10 meters wide.
Team survival: The ISK philosophy
The Collective fireproof shelter is more than just a protection tool—it embodies the ISK Fire Survival philosophy: to safeguard lives and maximize the survival chances of wildland firefighting teams.
In combination with other devices from the Integral Safety Kit, such as the FS1 Self-Protection Nozzle or the FS4 Fire Skirts, the FS2 shelter forms an integrated fire protection barrier, reducing risk in high-danger operations.
When everything fails, ISK stands.
